We Must Learn to Speak as Prophets

In a World of Lies it is Necessary to Define the Truth.

We Must Learn to Speak as Prophets is a group exhibition of mixed media work that consists of two parts.

Part one features the 22 tarot cards of the Major Arcana. Each artist selected a card and has rendered his/her personal interpretation of the card in a visual context.

Part two is comprised of pieces that illustrate underlying morals of known fables, parables and myths. Stories of this nature have changed hands through the ages and function as moral allegory - a tool to inject the values of the elder generation into the minds of the young. More times than not, the lesson or moral traditionally assigned to a given story is not the only one that can be derived from it’s text. Participating artists have been asked to render visual depictions of stories interpreted in their own “words”.

It is my hope that this exhibit will open a dialog where generally accepted concepts encounter those of a personal nature and new definitions arise from old symbols.
