Pollution Party

Rochell Koivunen and Bettina McEntyre

Pollution Party’s newest installation explores issues of tradition and gluttony with an elaborately decorative parlor overrun with intestines and mounted creatures. Tempting sweets glorify our human tendency to celebrate consumption. This interactive environment engages the public in conversation about the role of art in waste awareness.
Intrinsic to PP’s design standards, recycled and re-used materials, combined with family heirlooms, compose the bulk of this installation. With a vocabulary of mounted trophy heads, paint, cupcakes, intestines, and more; Pollution Party creates a fantastical environment celebrating wasteful traditions.
Pollution Party is a collective of artists Bettina McEntyre and Rochell Koivunen. Their first collaborative effort, “Plutonium, the Forgotten Plant” debuted at Backspace Gallery in April of 2007. Both Rochell and Bettina are established artists residing in Portland, OR.
